Title: A is for Alibi
Series: Kinsey Millhone #1
Author: Sue Grafton

A tough-talking former cop, private investigator Kinsey Millhone has set up a modest detective agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, California. A twice-divorced loner with few personal possessions and fewer personal attachments, she's got a soft spot for underdogs and lost causes.

Eight years ago, Nikki Fife was convicted of killing her philandering husband. Now she's out on parole and needs Kinsey's help to find the real killer.

If there's one thing that makes Kinsey feel alive, it's playing on the edge. When her investigation turns up a second corpse, more suspects, and a new reason to kill, Kinsey discovers that the edge is closer―and sharper―than she imagined.

A is for Alibi begins when Kinsey takes on a new case that has her working with a woman who just got out of prison for murdering her husband. The problem is she still claims that she is innocent, and wants to know who did it.

As Kinsey tries to work through all the clues, she also ends up having a relationship with someone that may cloud her judgment on things.

This book was interesting, but some of the extra details were a little bit boring at times. And I couldn't believe who the heroine got involved with. That was just craziness, and I couldn't believe it. But it also added a lot more interest to the story.

I do look forward to reading more, and this was a nice start to this series.
