Title: 1st to Die
Series: Women's Murder Club #1
Author: James Patterson
Rating:

As the only woman homicide inspector in San Francisco, Lindsay Boxer has to be tough. But nothing she has seen prepares her for the horror of the honeymoon murders, when a brutal maniac begins viciously slaughtering newly wed couples on their wedding nights. Lindsay is sickened by the deaths, but her determination to bring the murderer to justice is threatened by her own personal tragedy. So she turns to Claire, a leading coroner, Cindy, a journalist and Jill, a top attorney, for help with both her crises, and the Women's Murder Club is born.

1st to Die begins with Lindsay having a new case to solve, and finding out some bad news about her health. She's had her heart broken in the past, so when her hot new partner shows up she tries to deny the attraction, but realizes that may not be a good idea.

Now, Lindsay will do everything she can to solve this case, and maybe fall in love as well.

This is not the sort of book you read late at night while everyone in your house is asleep, and you're the only one awake because you want to read in the quiet. That is a very bad idea, trust me on this one.

The chilling story line has some major plot twists. I was totally confused and lost because I couldn't figure out who the real killer was until the very very end. And to add to this crazy thriller type of story, there was also a small dose of sadness and drama to go with it as well.

I felt very bad for Lindsay, and I hope she finds someone in the rest of the series. But this book wasn't just about Lindsay, or the case, it was also about her three friends who are trying to be a part of her "women's murder club." I look forward to more in this series, this one was a good start and I'm excited now.
