Stella’s the lead singer and lead guitarist of The Blue Moon Gypsies and Stella used to be Mace’s girl. Mace broke up with her, though, and the loss of him rocked her world. But Stella gets a call, late at night (again) from one of the members of her crazy band. She has to go play clean up (again) and runs into Mace and a shed load of police, and ends up getting shot.
Mace finds he doesn’t like it much that his ex-girlfriend got shot right in front of him but it’s worse. A very bad man has thrown down the gauntlet and all the Rock Chicks are in the firing line. Stella doesn’t want Mace to be the one to keep her alive, but she has no choice. Mainly because Mace isn’t giving her one.
"Last night, instead of sleeping, he just lay behind her, listening to her breathe and thinking that sound was sweeter than any song he'd ever heard her sing. And his Stella had a beautiful voice, never heard better." -Mace
Rock Chick Reckoning begins when Stella and the rest of the Rock Chicks are targeted for being associated with the Hot Bunch. The problem is Stella and Mace broke up a while ago. And even though she's still in love with him she knows that he doesn't want her. But Mace has other ideas. And once he learns things about her that he never knew before he realizes that he made a mistake before and now he must do what he can to fix it.
Stella on other hand isn't so sure that's a good idea. She can't understand why he wants to change things now. But when she learns Mace is hiding a lot of things she never knew about she's bound and determined to help fight his demons. The demons that he won't let rest now matter what happens, but Stella won't give up.
This book was extremely good! Stella starts off very weary of everything, but in the end she's very strong and sure of herself. She's a wonderful character that really grows during the book and does her hardest to take care of her man.
Mace is a wonderful hero as well. He does mess up some, but he works hard to fix things. And he does his hardest to make her safe and figure out the secrets she held as well.
I adored this book! It was a little different than some of the other Rock Chick books mainly because of the band aspect, and because Mace had some demons bigger than most.
Other than that this one was a great addition to this amazing series!
