Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.
Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.
Zack begins when Zack finally decides to get a nanny to help take care of his son while he goes back to playing hockey. The problem is he's still fighting grief and guilt over his girlfriend. And when the dorky, funny, Kate enters the picture Zack's problems get worse, because now he seems to be attracted to her, and feeling a whole lot of new feelings towards that he's not ready to deal with. And Kate is falling hard for Zack, but knows it's the worst thing she could possible do right now, but she can't help it.
These two take a really strange turn with their relationship because neither one can seem to stay away, but it may all come crashing down around them!
Zack was an unexpectedly good read. I wasn't really sure what to think about the book going into it, but the author did a really great job at portraying the grief, and all the other crazy emotions that Zack was experiencing.
And Kate was my hero. She is totally the type of person I would love to be, or at least have as a friend. She was so outgoing, and sweet it was amazing! I adored her.
She was also really great with Zack, and with the little boy she took care of as well.
The over all story was great too, and I enjoyed the whole book from start to finish, the only thing I didn't like was sometimes how Zack treated Kate, but in the end it all worked out.
