Songs and Stories!
There are a ton of author's out there who actually use songs to help them with their stories. It is often common to even have a playlist from the author for the book, or some of the songs mentioned in the book are listed in the back as well. Music is something that you can take anywhere with you, and helps express things or just makes you feel something weather it be happy or sad. Let's discuss a little bit more about songs and stories.
There are a few books that I actually think of when I hear a certain song. To me, that's a really good thing, because it helps express the emotion in a different from the story even though that song wasn't really meant for that book. I can still connect it certain ways. And that's really the beauty of music all around, it's universal.
There are a few books that I actually have a song in mind, and every time I hear that song I feel like I'm reading a certain part of that book. Here are some examples.
There was a song that was actually used in this story that helped the characters explain their emotions. I felt it was a beautiful sad song, and it was perfect for this part of the book. Say Something by A Great Big World Ft. Christina Aguilera
I don't really care for this series that much, but there is a song that reminds me of the way Christian feels about Ana. The lyrics are kind of ironic, but I still associate them with the way he feels. Chains by Nick Jonas
The bad thing about adding songs to your books, or even associating them with it, is some may not agree. Which, I mean you can't really please everyone, but adding something like that to it can also add more conflict. Some people can not only disagree with the song choice you made, but they can also take a different meaning from the song than the one the writer had originally intended. So, songs can input good or bad things with books, and almost everything else in life. You can go almost anywhere and hear some sort of music. "Music makes the world go round."
Express Your View: What do you think about songs and stories? Is it a good idea to have music with our books? Do you use music to help express how you feel? And now a cheesy good-bye!
