Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…
In the second book in this pretty awesome series Layla is still upset about the things that happened with Roth. And Zayne is there with her every step of the way. But Layla's powers seem to be changing, and bad things are starting to happen. Some of the people she's always thought cared about her, are treating her badly, and when she finds out that things may be a little different with Roth she's hurt all over again. But she starts to think that maybe it's her fault some of these bad things are happening, and when something extremely horrible happens, Layla has to figure out why it's her.
This book was really good. I was a little annoyed about Layla and Zayne at first, because I'm so Team Roth! But I was also mad at Roth too, and Zayne was really good about being there for Layla. So, I actually started liking him a whole lot more.
There was a whole lot of crazy stuff that happened in this one. I was so happy, yet sad, and frustrated about a lot of this too. But I really enjoyed this book, it was a great sequel to the first one. And the only bad thing was the horrible cliffhanger ending. I can not believe it just ended like that. It had me freaking out, and screaming! Now, I can not wait for the next book!
