Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .
Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.
This book begins with Sydney being held captive by the Alchemists. She's going through a whole lot of craziness just to stay in one piece, but she's bound and determined to get out. And Adrian and the rest of her friends are still looking for her, even though it seems they may never find her.
While Sydney tries to make friends in her new world, and get allies, her friends are on the outside also trying to make allies as well. This one thing is tearing everyone apart, but they are trying to work really hard to get Sydney back with them.
This one was good. But I was a little frustrated with Adrian in the beginning. He made me so angry I wanted to smack him several times. I couldn't believe the things he did, and kept doing. But I was so glad when he finally straightened up. Other then that it was really cool to see how strong Sydney was to endure so much, and yet still help those around her. Not only that, but also see Adrian and Sydney in a new light in their relationship. That was beautiful, and the best part of the whole book! I loved that.
Now, I'm a little scared the next book won't be very good, because I kind of predict a few things that will happen. But let's hope I'm wrong. I still plan on reading it, because it is the final book in this series, but I'm a little nervous about it.
