Title: Hammer's Fall
Series: The Breakers' Bad Boys, #1
Author: Laurie Roma
Rating:

Jared “Hammer” Caufield is a former Army Ranger and retired professional MMA champion that had to give up his fighting career due to a knee injury. He is a bad boy through and through, but that doesn’t stop him from craving the sweet little bakery owner, even though he knows she is too good for him…

Bakery owner, Kalista Redford, is a woman who has had a difficult past. She has always struggled with her self-esteem, and her last breakup hasn’t done anything to help improve her opinion of herself. When Kalista finds herself pursued by the dark and dangerous man she has secretly dreamed about, will she be able to follow her heart or will past insecurities threaten to ruin her chance at true love?

Hammer's Fall begins with Kalista going across the street to Hammer's gym to ask Hammer aka Jared about self defense classes. She and her boyfriend broke up a few weeks ago, and she's determined to lose weight before she sees him again at her cousin's wedding. Hammer on the other hand has been waiting for Kalista to be a free woman so he could stake his claim. He knows she's it for him, but he wants to give her time to adjust to them first.. But Kalista has a lot of issues, and she's not sure she can really trust Hammer.. These two have a lot to go through to get to the HEA, but they both work hard to make it there...

I really enjoyed this book. It had really good writing, a good plot line, and a badass alpha male. The only downside to the story was at times the plot got a tad bit on the boring side, and Kalista could get a little annoying. But she wasn't so insecure that it really affected too much of the book, but sometimes it was frustrating. I really loved how sweet Hammer was, and how he treated Kalista. Other than that the book was really good, and I look forward to reading more in this series. It wasn't exactly a "biker club" type of book but it had something similar in it that made it very interesting.
