Title: The Will Series: Magdalene #1 Author: Kristen Ashley Rating: Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.
While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.
But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.
Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.
The Will begins with Josie attending her Gran's funeral. Her Gran was basically the only family she had left, and now she's gone. Now Josie has to deal with getting rid of her things, and figuring out if she's going to sell her Gran's house, the only place she's ever called home. But things change when Jake Spear takes an interest in her life.
Jake Spear is a complicated man. He has two unique businesses, and three children to take care of. All of this is not normally something most woman want to take on. But Josie is different. Josie has no one at all to depend on or take care of. That is until Josie's Gran does something crazy with her "will" and now Jake seems to be every where Josie.
These two start to form a relationship that includes friendship, and maybe more.
I won't say anymore because that will just be giving everything away. But wow, this was so different from any previous Kristen Ashley book. Although if you really think hard and compare it also wasn't that different either. I really enjoyed the book though. I thought it was really really good.
Josie was very unique. I haven't read a character like her before. She was wow I don't even know how to really explain it. But she seemed really stand offish at the beginning, and then slowly she let people in. And once she did, it was like show opened herself up and she was just beautiful. I think what makes her so different besides her stand offishness, is the way she speaks. She has very proper etiquette, which is so different from any of the other characters I've ever read by Kristen Ashley. And that just made me like her even more! I loved her character greatly in this book.
I also loved Jake. I felt he wasn't really all that intense, but he was a wonderful father, and major softy at heart.
The plot was wonderful as well. However, there really wasn't any type of action which was a slight disappointment other that this book was really really good. Now I look forward to more in this series. I have several people in mind who I hope get their own book, including a few of Jake's children! Now I suggest you read the book like asap because you will not be disappointed!
