Part one of a two part series.
There are three things Lily Evans immediately notices about her new neighbor, Jay Lincoln. The first is his monstrous size, the second is the malicious way he glares at her, and thirdly, but most importantly, the three scars that mark his right eye. She knows the smart thing to do is stay away, but she has never met or seen anyone like him. The more time she spends with this frightening yet captivating man, the harder it becomes. He can make her hairs stand on end but he also has a sweetness to him that tugs at her heart. Soon she finds herself merged into his world full of murder, revenge, and deceit.
The Missing Link begins when Lily's mom forces her to go to the neighbors house to invite him over for dinner. Lily has only been home for a few weeks due to leaving her abusive boyfriend. And when she sees her neighbor for the first time she's both frightened, and intrigued. The meeting doesn't go so well, so she flees in fright. But returns once more due to her mother bringing food this time. And this meeting goes a little differently. From that moment on Lily and Jay form a sort of strange relationship that soon takes their feelings to something neither one of them have explored before. But Jay has some major secrets, and when his secrets bring Lily trouble they both have to learn what heartbreak means in order to be together.
This book was so good. I loved getting to see the beautiful side of their relationship before all of the crazy stuff happened. There was only one point in the book that really bugged me because it made me feel like Jay didn't really care about Lily all that much. It is the part towards the end with another woman. I won't go into details but I seriously didn't like it. It bugged the crap out of me, and I really felt like Lily needed to get away from him. Then the ending was kind of crazy as well. And it makes me think that Jay is going to "hook up" with said woman... I don't know I'm just speculating but I was still mad at him for that crap he pulled with her. Anyways the writing was awesome, and so where all of the characters. I really loved Jay and Lily. They both had a fierce side to them, but also a sweet side! So now I'm excited to read the next book!
