Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.
As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects me to lead the charge against the Reapers, even though I’m still hurting over what happened with Spartan warrior Logan Quinn. I’ve got to get my hands on the antidote fast — otherwise, an innocent person will die. But the only known cure is hidden in some creepy ruins — and the Reapers are sure to be waiting for me there …
Midnight Frost begins with us seeing how Gwen is handling the whole Logan situation. And let me just say this was seriously annoying at first. I felt like this book was just going to be a "filler" book, and Gwen was getting on my nerves at first. But then it got really interesting when someone gets poised instead of Gwen. So now Gwen is hell bent on going out to find the cure to save a friend. As the story goes on we see Gwen really bite her tongue a lot when she normally would have been overly emotional and said things that are childish. But here I felt like she's really growing and taking on her role beautifully. Along the way Gwen ends up making new friends and even finding out more about her family... And then there is more Logan..
I won't say much more about that because I don't want to ruin the story. But I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was very good. I loved getting to see Gwen change. And I also loved what she told Logan in the cave.. Now that's all I will say but dang it was epic! I was like "you go girl." Because seriously Logan got on my last nerve in this book, I felt like he was a major chicken and letting down Gwen and her friends majorly. But it all turned out well in the end. Now I'm ever more excited about the next book!
