From the acclaimed author of the Morgan Kingsley, Exorcist books comes the gripping first novel in a new series about a private eye who discovers, to her surprise, that she’s an immortal huntress.
Nikki Glass can track down any man. But when her latest client turns out to be a true descendant of Hades, Nikki now discovers she can’t die. . . . Crazy as it sounds, Nikki’s manhunting skills are literally god-given. She’s a living, breathing descendant of Artemis who has stepped right into a trap set by the children of the gods. Nikki’s new “friends” include a descendant of Eros, who uses sex as a weapon; a descendant of Loki, whose tricks are no laughing matter; and a half-mad descendant of Kali who thinks she’s a spy. But most powerful of all are the Olympians, a rival clan of immortals seeking to destroy all Descendants who refuse to bow down to them. In the eternal battle of good god/bad god, Nikki would make a divine weapon. But if they think she’ll surrender without a fight, the gods must be crazy. . .
Dark Descendant begins when Nikki glass agrees to do something went against her gut. She realized afterwards she really should have listened to instinct. Because that night changed her life for ever. Now she has people believing she's a cold blooded killer. Not only that but she also has other people who want to hurt her family in order to use her for bad things. Nikki doesn't know who to trust, or what to believe. All she knows is that she has to keep her family safe no matter what it takes.
I really loved this book. It has all of the things needed in a paranormal urban fantasy type of book. I just wish there had been a little bit of romance for Nikki. I hope there is in the next book, and I know who I want her to get with but I'm not sure how it will work. This book was written very well, and kept me constantly interested. I loved Nikki's character. She's a bad mamma jamma but she also has a soft side even though it doesn't prevent her from doing things to help safe her family. I'm very curious about Nikki now though. The book didn't explain a whole lot of backround stuff about her. At least not about her bio family. So I also hope we learn more about that soon as well. Alright I don't want to give too much away, but I highly recommend this book if your into these types of stories. And it's all based on mythology Gods.. Not werewolves or vampires.. Those can get old at times, so it's nice to have something new and refreshing!
