Meghan Chase has never fit in at her small-town high school, and now, on the eve of her 16th birthday, she discovers why. When her half brother is kidnapped, Meghan is drawn into a fantastical world she never imagined--the world of Faery, where anything you see may try to eat you, and Meghan is the daughter of the summer faery king. Now she will journey into the depths of Faery to face an unknown enemy . . . and beg the help of a winter prince who might as soon kill her as let her touch his icy heart. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series.
The Iron King begins with us getting to know a little bit about Meghan Chase. She's twenty-four hours away from turning sixteen, and it seems like her life is just getting worse. On her birthday a whole lot of bad stuff happens.. Like the most popular guy in school does something mean, then her little brother is switched with a changeling. And Meghan is just now learning about the Fey.. And what she's learning isn't all that good. Especially when everything she thought she knew completely changed! This is Meghan's journey to find her brother, but she finds a whole lot more than that as well.
I want to say that I thought the book was good, and I liked it. That said I did have a few pet peeves with the book. Like in the beginning I really thought Meghan was really stupid. The mistakes she made frustrated me.. But she did learn from them. Then I really didn't like how quickly Meghan started having feelings for one of the Fey. Other than that I thought the book was a fun read. It had a little bit of Alice and Wonderland down the rabbit hole feel to it at times. But it was still interesting. Now the ending wasn't really a cliffhanger, but it does lead us into the next book nicely. So now I'm super excited to read the next book!
