For the first time, the origins of Gin Blanco’s career as the deadly assassin “the Spider” are revealed in full. In a story that pre-dates the other nine books in the series, Gin Blanco goes through her paces to become the most feared assassin in the Ashland.
Received book for honest review from Netgalley!
The Spider begins with us seeing Gin in her restaurant with her boyfriend Owen at the present time. She receives a box of flowers with a note attached, and now she decides to tell Owen how she first became the Spider.
And that tale begins ten years ago, while she's been training with Fletcher and Finn for a long time now she's not really ready yet to be the Spider but she will be soon. After getting a job op that Fletcher doesn't have a good feeling about, Gin decides to push the job so she can hurry and get it done. And here in lies one of her biggest mistakes. I won't say more because I don't want to ruin it. But it shows us exactly what kind of mistakes she made in order to become so good at what she does now.
I really enjoyed this book. It was awesome to get to see how Gin started. And I never would have thought she could have made that big of mistake after reading all of the previous books, but alas it can happen. So over all the book was good. It didn't further the main story line really, but it let us see how Gin became the officially the Spider!
