I used to murder people for money, but these days it’s more of a survival technique.
Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town.
Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back in town, she thinks he’s hers for the taking.
Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.
Widow's Web begins with Owen and Gin going out to dinner together. But they never expected Owen's ex lover to show up out of the blue and welcome them. Gin knows instantly that there's a lot Owen hasn't told her about this woman, like the fact that he never he mention her at all. And it seems Owen still cares for her. Not only that but Eva, Owen's sister, asks Gin to do something in possible because Owen's ex lover is nothing at all like Owen thought she was. Gin knows that this could end up ruining her relationship with Owen for ever, especially since he seems to have a blind spot when it comes to his ex, but Gin also knows that she's always the one to end up doing the hard stuff that no one else can ever do.
This book was a major roller coaster ride for us all. Gin is upset with Owen because he never told her information that was needed. But Owen also believes a lie about his stupid ex and won't believe what anyone else has to say. Okay so this could be a spoiler so continue at your own risk...
Anyways, Owen's ex actually did something bad to Eva once upon a time, and now that Owen knows it he still wants to try to "save" his ex instead of taking her out. Seriously what the feck? If it was anyone else Owen wouldn't have hesitated. Especially since he's already admitted in previous books that he actually killed a man just for threatening Eva, but yet this vile woman actually hurt her, and he wants her to get help?? Puhleese!! The guy is a grade a hypocrite. I understood him needing closure with his ex, but he seriously should have got some balls to stick up for his sister the person who supposedly means the most to him in the world. So to say I was a lot disappointed in Owen is a huge understatement. But I am proud of how Gin handled it. She was awesome as always. So the book was very good as always in this series. But seriously Owen frustrated me. I hope he really makes it up to Gin in the next book!
