In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race.
Possessed by a deadly beast, Rhage is the most dangerous of the Black Dagger Brotherhood...
Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetite. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin.
Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.
When Mary Luce is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world, she must rely on Rhage's protection. Knowing that Mary feels the same intense animal attraction, Rhage must make her his alone...
Lover Eternal begins with Mary going with her friend Bella to the Black Dagger Brotherhood home. Since Mary is human she has no idea who all of these men are, and that she could possibly be in danger. That his until Rhage meets her, and asks her to talk to him. He's just had to deal with his "beast" and now just the sound of the strange woman's voice is calming him. Because of this intense need Rhage makes Bella set the two of them up on a date. From there things go from okay, to bad pretty quickly.
Mary keeps pushing Rhage away. She doesn't want to have to deal with him, and her cancer coming back as well. But when they go out again she is put in danger, and Rhage must reveal his true self to her.
This book was very good. I have to say through about the first half I was very frustrated with Mary. She drove me nuts with the way she kept treating Rhage. Especially after all he's done for her, then she just keeps pushing him away. Drove.. ME.... NUTS...
Rhage on the other hand was awesome through out the whole book. He wasn't afraid to take what he wanted, and keep her safe. That was his whole purpose just to keep her safe, to take care of her. I really admired him for that. And I loved how we could feel his feelings so clearly, and how much all of Mary's actions hurt him, or made him happy.
In the end I was sad at first, but then I really enjoyed the ending. However, it does get sad at times. And I am very excited about the next book. I personally love Zsadist, and Bella as well. So I'm very much looking forward to the next book. The only bad thing about this book was seeing the "bad guys" point of view at times. I really found that frustrating!
