Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn’t exactly awesome—especially when Alexandria’s "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth’s in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom—so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do—and sacrifice—for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies—lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn’t blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
In this second book to the series we see Alex make a whole lot of bad choices. I mean really bad. Something horrible happens to her best friend, and then she makes her feelings for Aiden clear to him. Then she makes another choice that I seriously hated. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but I am totally TEAM AIDEN. I really wish Alex would have listened to the oracle better because I seriously believe Seth is the bad guy in all of this.
I will just have to wait and see if I'm right, but dang I can't believe all the stuff that happened in this one. It was seriously crazy, and I'm crazy proud and disappointed in Alex! She can kick serious butt right now, but I feel like her other choices are lacking.
I can not wait to read the next book. So far this series is really awesome! And I can't wait to see if Alex will correct her horrible mistake, if she even can. I highly recommend this series, it is seriously worth it!
