Two years ago, Emily Burnham, had an epiphany about the shallowness of her life. And she made it her mission to become a different person…a better woman. Out from under the controlling thumb of her mother, Emily is tasting the real world for the first time. And she likes it.
Nixon Caldwell has served his time in the Marine Corps, surviving two brutal tours in Afghanistan. He is back home, surrounded by what he likes best…isolation. It's certainly the best way to avoid confrontation of the consuming guilt that is weighing him down.
When an accident brings Emily and Nix together, he soon learns he is not the master of his own fate. Struggling with his own pain, Nix tries to guard himself against Emily’s charms. He wants her in his bed, but he doesn’t want her in his heart.
Having grabbed life by the horns, Emily wants it all. But is she willing to accept just the small part of himself that Nix is offering? Can she reach the part of his soul that he has deemed to be Off Limits?
Off Limits is about Emily still trying to be a different person. She doesn't want to be that shallow girl who followed every order her mother gave her. Now she's actually going to live life her way. But when a accident brings her together with Nix, a man who is seriously hot, but he also has is own problems and he isn't the nicest guy around. Things go a little crazy.
In order to pay Nix back she agrees to work for him at his shop, and doing odd jobs around his house.
For some reason they both have a strange connection to the other. They can't seem to stay away, but Nix keeps trying to push Emily away. But Emily wants things to go a little further. She's willing to try things she's never done before.
This book has lots of drama, a man with issues from war, and women who is trying to grow into herself. I really truly loved this book. It was that good. I did not however read the first one, so everything still made sense but it probably would have been better if I had read the first one before this one. But I do look forward to more!
