First in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student's introduction into a society of vampires.
Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was Merit's. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.
Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she's traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan "Lord of the Manor" Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries' worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan?s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone's still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago's nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war?and there will be blood.
One day I noticed this series on Amazon when I was browsing for books. I wasn't really sure what to expect but I'm all for vampire books, and this looked very interesting. I'm so glad that I took a chance on this book, and I can not wait to read more in this series. It is wonderful!! It starts out with Merit being attacked by a vampire, but she gets changed into a vampire by the person who saves her before she can die. She now has to go through her whole life changing because she's not human anymore. She has to be a part of a house now, with rules, and the ruler of the manor the very own Ethan, who changed her and who she has a strange attraction to. Ethan and Merit both seem to have a strange attraction to each other but neither one of them want it, they can not stand each other for obvious reason, but yet there is the underlining sexual tension between them. And it's not just Merit whose life seems to change. Her current roommate and best friend Mallory is also undergoing some changes that she had no idea would take place. This book has lots of action! Vampires! A girl who can kick butt with a sword, and lots of drama, and humor to make you laugh and get seriously pissed off while reading this book! I highly highly recommend this series!
