Title: Protecting What's His
Series: Line Of Duty, #1
Author: Tessa Bailey
Rating: 4 Shooting Stars

She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

Protecting What's His was a wonderful romance! It starts out with Ginger living with her mother and sister in a really crappy life. Her mother has never been there for her, or her sister, she's never cared for them, and she left them alone for most of their lives. Ginger finally gets the opportunity to take Willa, her sister, away from all of this and start over. But in doing so, Ginger puts herself in danger when she takes the money her mother had beside her when she passed out.
They didn't know there would end up being in danger when they moved to Chicago, they just decided it was the best place to start over, and with that money they were able to get a nice apartment right next door to a cop.
Derek is a wonderful character. He is the cop next door to Ginger, and Willa. And as soon as he see's Ginger he wants her instantly, but he doesn't make a very good impression with her. Throughout them getting to know each other there are lots of hilarious moments, and sexy scenes.

Overall this book was really good. I loved the plot, and the characters were amazing. There is even a side romance with some drama for Ginger's sister Willa. I enjoyed this book a lot, and I can not wait to read more!
