At the tender age of 27, Merit became a sword-wielding vampire. Since then, she’s become the protector of her House, watched Chicago nearly burn to the ground, and seen her Master fall and rise. Now she’ll see her mettle—and her metal —tested like never before.
It started with two . . . Two rogues vanishing without a trace. Someone is targeting Chicago’s vampires, and anyone could be next. With their house in peril, Merit and her Master, the centuries old Ethan Sullivan, must race to stop the disappearances. But as they untangle a web of secret alliances and ancient evils, they realize their foe is more familiar, and more powerful, than they could have ever imagined.
This is by far one of my favorite books of this series!! I loved it. Ethan, and Merit have to help solve a murder of two rogue vampires. Someone is targeting the vampires, and they aren't sure who it could be they have a suspect but for some reason they are convinced that he is the person who is killing the vampires. And now the house is no longer part of the GP, they have to deal with Darius's devious plan to get Ethan's vampires out of their house. But Merit is determined to stay in that house it is her home, and she isn't going to give up without a fight. Then you have Merit going into the RG, and problems between her and Ethan are created because Lacy is back, and she wants nothing more than to have Ethan at her side. But hopefully Ethan is a lot smarter than Lacy gives him credit for. I seriously loved this book. I can not stand Darius, or Lacy I wish they both would be staked with aspen wood! Ugh I just hated them in this book, and all of the other books they've been in. Along with that, I'm becoming even more of an Ethan fan. He is so strong, and stubborn, and he's not afraid to fight for Merit, and to let her know that she is "his" no matter what. I highly recommend this book, and this series. It is well worth it. Now I just have to wait till the next one comes out!
